Electric Wax Melt Burner vs Tealight Wax Melt Burner
With so much choice out there, it is difficult to know which is best.
Like many things, this decision comes down to a personal preference but here we give our view.
Electric Wax Melt Burner
How does it work? Simply switch it on and the light bulb warms up the melt bowl.
Benefits:
Always ready to go (unless in a power cut…)
Doesn’t get as hot as a tealight burner so our wax melts last for days
Creates an illuminating ambience when on which helps to light up the room
No need to keep buying tealights
Drawbacks:
Scent throw isn’t as strong as a tealight burner
More expensive than a tealight burner
Tealight Wax Melt Burner
How does it work? Place a tealight in the base, light it and allow it to warm the melt bowl
Benefits:
Get quite hot so the scent throw from our melts is amazing!
Creates an illuminating ambience when tealight is lit which helps to light up the room
When used with our soy tealights you can get a good 6 hours of great fragrance
Cheaper than electric burners to start
Drawbacks:
Using cheap tealights can mean you have to light a new tealight every 3-4 hours
Melts won’t last as long as they do in electric burners as they get a lot hotter so diffuse scent quicker.
So which is better?
Only you can really make that choice but here are a few tips to help:
1) If you like a really strong scent throw go with a tealight burner
2) If you use it a lot, then it may be better to invest in the electric option as you may save on tealights
3) An intermittent user may prefer the lower price tealight burner
Want a strong scent when you use it, but use it infrequently then tealights are the way to go
Happy with a softer scent but use the burner a lot, then consider going electric.
What is our advice?
The good news is that our wax melts, both our standard melt range and the Geo range, work amazingly well in both. For us, the decision should come down to how much you use it. However much we would like you to keep coming back for more tealights that doesn't make good economic sense if you use it a lot.
